The Matchup
- The Greyhounds will wrap up conference play on Wednesday evening, as they will host American at 6:00 PM. The Greyhounds have secured a first round bye in the Patriot League Championships, while the Eagles have also clinched a spot in the playoffs.
- This will be the 54th meeting between the two programs, with the Greyhounds holding the edge 30-16-7.

Quick Hits
- The Greyhounds earned two draws against ACC foes thus far this season. This is the first time the Greyhounds earned two wins/draws against ACC foes since the 2001 season, where they beat Maryland twice (1-0, 1-0 OT).  
- The Greyhounds have played three teams that were ranked in this weeks United Soccer Coaches poll; West Virginia (No. 2), North Carolina (No. 10), and Fordham (RV), with the Greyhounds earning a draw in each of those games.

- The Greyhounds have scored 19 goals on the season. 13 different players have scored a goal this season. 
- Likewise, they have ten assists on the season coming from seven different players, with Sean McEvoy, Jordy Luchies and Thomas Gray leading the team with two assists.  
- The Greyhounds have six players with double-digit shots on the season; Danilo Seglio (24), Jake Sweeney (19), Rolando Onu (19) and Sean McEvoy (18), and Charlie Herley (14), and Thomas Gray (12).

Scouting American
- The Eagles come into the matchup with an 6-4-4 (3-2-3) record on the season, and have won their last three games, all of them being shutouts. 
- Ethan Boyle leads the team with six goals on the season, which is also good for fourth in the Patriot League. 
- Zemi Rodriguez has four assists on the season to lead the team, while four other players are tied for second with three assists each. 
- In goal, Matthrew Tibbets has started in 10 games on the season. He has 29 saves, an 1.11 goals against average, and a .725 save percentage. Dominic Dominguez and Lorenzo Gordon both have started two games on the season for the Eagles this season, combining for 13 saves. 
- The Eagles currently sit in fourth place in the Patriot League with 12 points. They could finish the season anywhere from the three seed to the sixth seed, depending on outcomes this weekend.

- The Greyhounds are 44-12-12 in the Patriot League since the beginning of the 2016 season. 
- In 2022, the Greyhounds set a program-high with 8 ties on the season.
- The Greyhounds are 14-0-1 since the beginning of the 2021 season when scoring multiple goals. They are also 14-0 when leading at halftime and 14-3-11 when they out shoot opponents since the beginning of 2021.
- The Greyhounds currently are the only team in Division I with at least eight ties.  
- Fun fact: Richie Nichols and Caden Stafford were roommates during their Freshman year at Maryland.

Bounce Back Season
- 2022 was a down year for the Greyhounds, as their streak of four-straight regular season Championships came to an end.
- The Greyhounds also failed to make the Patriot League Championships for the first time since 2015.
- Jordy Luchies and Jake Mayer missed the majority of the 2022 season during injuries, but look to play major rolls on the back-line for the Greyhounds in 2023. 
- Despite losing some key pieces following 2022, the Greyhounds re-tooled, bringing in 17 newcomers to the roster. 
- With some important returners and key newcomers, the Greyhounds look to regain their form from the 2021 season, in which they won the Patriot League.

Lockdown Defense
- The Greyhounds defense has been lockdown this season, allowing just 12 goals in 16 games thus far. 
- The Greyhounds defense ranks 15th nationally in goals againast average, as they average .760 goals per game. 
- Dylan Van der Walt ranks tied for seventh in shutouts, and 19th in goals against average (.760). 
- The Greyhounds have allowed multiple goals in a game just twice this season, coming in the second game of the season, agaisnt Delaware and against Boston
- In Patriot League play, the Greyhounds have allowed just five goals, with the team tallying six Patirot League shutouts, including a shutout in five of their last six conference games.
