PHILADELPHIA – Loyola University Maryland men's and women's rowing started its spring schedule on Saturday, competing on the Schuylkill River at the 2023 Jesuit Invitational.
The Greyhounds raced against boats from fellow Jesuit schools Fairfield, Holy Cross, Fordham and St. Joseph's.
The women's second varsity four –
Cassidy Garcia,
Emily Pedersen,
Anna Schiller,
Valentina Masi and coxswain Bella Schafer – finished second in 10:12.1, and the men's second varsity eight coxed by
Kat An with
Julius Boucke, Rhys organ,
Devon Sangiorgio,
Jeremiah James, Christopher Mueller,
Matteo Mood, Matt Smith and
Ben Sala were second in their final with a time of 6:39.2.
Loyola's women's varsity four –

Callista Van Syckel – claimed second in the petite final with a time of 8:34.0, and the varsity eight was second in its petite final, too. Coxswain

Loyola will be back in action on Saturday, April 1, when it hosts several teams at the Baltimore Boat House. The women will race against Lehigh, while the men will take on Delaware, La Salle and the Potomac Boat Club.
