Box Score Boston, MA -- The Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team traveled to face Boston University on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds scored the first nine goals of the game, and didn't look back, as they dominated from start to finish, to win 15-1.
One goal is the fewest goals allowed in the program since they shut out Cincinnati on March 24, 2013. The last time the Greyhounds allowed just one goal was on April 4, 2001 against George Mason.
Five different Greyhounds scored in the first half, as
Jillian Wilson,
Chase Boyle,
Sydni Black, and
Georgia Latch each had two goals at half;
Anna Ruby added the other goal. The Greyhounds held the Terriers to just ten shots in the first half, with their lone goal coming with 26 seconds remaining in the half.
The Greyhounds (7-2 overall) defense continued their dominant performance in the second half, as the Terriers had just two shots in the third period. After being held scoreless for the first half of the third quarter,
Anna Ruby scored her second of the game, thanks to an assist from
Emily Wills. Boyle responded quickly, as she added another for the Greyhounds just 40 seconds later.
In the fourth quarter,
Elisa Faklaris scored her first career goal for the Greyhounds with 5:55 remaining. She didn't wait long to add her second however, as she scored again with 4:03 remaining as the Greyhounds went on to win 15-1.
Boyle, Wilson, Black, and Latch led the team with three-points each. Boyle and Wilson each had a hat-trick ,as Black and Latch both had two goals and an assist. Faklaris and Ruby both had two goals on the day, while
Sofia D'Angelo added a goal of her own.
Regan Kielmeyer also added an assist on the day.
Lauren Spence had a stellar game in goal, as she had 8 saves in the game, while also added a ground ball.
Coming into the matchup, all eyes were on the draw control matchup between the first and second ranked teams in terms of draw control percentage, but the Greyhounds top-ranked draw control dominated, as they won the draw control battle 17-3.
Jillian Wilson led the way with seven draw controls on the day, while
Chase Boyle had four, and
Katie Detwiler had three.
The Terriers (6-3 overall) lone goal came from Claire Gola. Reilly Agres had 12 saves on the afternoon.
The Greyhounds will be back home on Wednesday, as they continue Patriot Leauge play with a matchup against American at 6:00 pm.
