BALTIMORE – Ninety-two Loyola University Maryland student-athletes celebrated commencement exercises with their peers last weekend as the Greyhounds continued their excellent results in the classroom during the spring semester.
Eleven of the graduates received their master's degrees, while the other 81 celebrated the reception of bachelor's degrees.
During the spring semester, 63 Loyola student-athletes had perfect 4.0 grade-point averages with two of the seniors, men's soccer's Albert Kang and swimming and diving's Jack Still, maintaining the perfect marks throughout their academic careers.
The two were the 2023 recipients of the Mary O'Meara Scholar-Athlete Award for having the highest GPAs of graduating seniors. Kang was also selected to deliver the commencement address on behalf of his Class of 2023.
Overall, the Greyhounds posted a spring-semester GPA of 3.488 to raise their cumulative GPA to 3.449. Every one of Loyola's 18 teams had a GPA of 3.0 or better for both the semester and cumulatively with the volleyball team checking in on top with a cumulative 3.673 GPA.
A large contingent of Greyhounds were recognized with special awards and academic department medals in advance of commencement:

Finance Medal – Albert Kang (men's soccer)
John McFadden Family Medal in Information Systems and Data Analytics – Albert Kang (men's soccer)
