Adams Named To D.C. Sports Hall of Fame

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jen Adams has another platitude to add to her bio.

Loyola University Maryland's head women's lacrosse coach already is a member of the USA Lacrosse Hall of Fame, the USA Lacrosse Chesapeake Chapter Hall of Fame and the University of Maryland Athletics Hall of Fame.

Next month, she will become a member of the Washington DC Sports Hall of Fame when she is inducted during a ceremony prior to the Washington Nationals' home game on July 9.

"I am extremely humbled and honored to be inducted in to the Washington DC Sports Hall of Fame amongst a powerhouse list of some of sports finest," Adams said. "I look forward to celebrating at the Nationals game & ceremony in July."

Adams recently completed her 15th season as the head coach at Loyola where she has led the Greyhounds to nine conference championships, 11 NCAA Tournament bids and five quarterfinals appearances.

During the 2023 season, she became the program's all-time winningest coach, surpassing the 197 wins by fellow Hall of Famer Diane Geppi-Aikens amassed during her career. Adams also became the first Loyola women's lacrosse coach to win 200 or more games and has a 209-74 all-time record.

Over the last two seasons, Adams' teams have put together the most wins in a two-year span in school history (39). The Greyhounds' 20 wins in 2022 set a school record, and the 2023 team finished with 19 victories.

The Greyhounds have been standouts in the classroom, as well, with seven of her players being named Patriot League Scholar-Athletes of the Year in the nine years the award has been given since Loyola joined the conference.

One the field, Adams put together arguably the greatest career in the sport's history. She led Maryland to four-straight national titles from 1998-2001, including a 21-0 record in 1999 and a 23-0 mark in 2001.

She racked up honors like she scored goals and recorded assists and was named to the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse 25th Anniversary Team in April 2007.

The Brighton, South Australia, native, was named the three-time national player of the year and was the first recipient of the Tewaaraton Trophy in 2001.

Adams set every scoring record – season and career – for the Terrapins at the time of her graduation, helping them win national titles in each of the four seasons she spent in College Park. She finished her storied career with 267 goals, 178 assists and 445 total points. Her mark for total points currently remains No. 3 all-time in NCAA Division I history, and her goals total is still No. 2 all-time at Maryland, while she is the Terrapins' leader still in assists.

Adams' efforts were not limited just to the lacrosse field. In addition to her three All-America honors as a player, Adams earned the 2000 and 2001 Honda/Broderick Award for women's lacrosse excellence in the classroom and on the field. She also garnered CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team honors as a senior.

She was also named the National Attacker of the Year in 1999, 2000 and 2001 and earned Atlantic Coast Conference Female Athlete of the Year laurels in 2000 and 2001.
