Box Score Baltimore -- Loyola University Maryland scored two of its three goals in the second half on Thursday evening, vaulting the Greyhounds past Manhattan College, 3-0, in a non-conference soccer match.
The Greyhounds (3-2 overall) had a promising start to the game, tallying six shots in the first ten minutes, and they broke through in the 10th minute, when
Olivia Quaranta connected on a
Baylee DeSmit corner kick, to give the Greyhounds an early 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds continued to control the pace out shooting the Jaspers (1-2 overall) 10-2 in the first half.
In the second half, the Greyhounds continued their momentum, as they added a second goal early in the half,
Delaney DeMartino fired a shot from beyond the box, scoring her first career goal.
The Greyhounds maintained possession throughout the remainder of the game, holding the Jaspers to just one shot in the second half. With the game winding down, the Greyhounds added a late third goal when
Abby Wood scored the first goal of her career, thanks to assists from
Julia Hellenkamp and
Emma Aviles.
Paige Sim had two saves on the night for her 26th career shutout, moving her into second place all-time in shutouts at Loyola.
The Greyhounds will be back at home on Sunday, as they will host Rice at 12:00 PM.
