The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds will continue conference play on Saturday afternoon as Loyola will host the Lehigh Mountain Hawks at 1:00 PM.  
  • This will be the 12th matchup betwen the two programs, as Loyola hold the series edge 6-4-1. Last year's matchup ended in a 0-0 draw in Bethlehem. Last time Lehigh was in Baltimore, Loyola won 1-0.  

Quick Hits
  • The Greyhounds started Patriot League play as they entered the season as the Preseason favorites. Loyola earned 12 first place votes and a total of 150 points in the poll. The Greyhounds are 2-1-2 in their last five Patriot League home openers (excluding the 2020 season).  
  • In the Preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, Clemson (#1), Marshall (#8), Hofstra (#17), and Syracuse (#25) were all ranked in the poll. Loyola will be on the road for Clemson, Marshall and Syracuse, while they will host Hofstra at home on September 24. 
  • Steve Nichols enters his 11th season at the helm for the Greyhounds, and has amassed a record of 75-67-37 (48-26-15) during his tenure. 

Last Time Out
  • Out of the gate, the Greyhounds scored early, as Jake Sweeney scored the opening goal in the third minute, as Charlie Herley's pass across the box found Sweeney, who tapped it in for goal. 
  • Neither team had success throughout the remainder of the half, as the game was played between the '18's, as Loyola took the 1-0 lead into halftime. 
  • Colgate equalized early in the second half, after a shot inside the box got passed the Greyhounds. 
  • In the 65th minute, Loyola drew a corner kick, as Sean McEvoy's cross found Oscar Halls at the far post, as he headed it in for his first career goal. 
  • The Greyhounds defense stepped up late, as they held the Colgate offense, for the 2-1 win.

Scouting Lehigh
  • The Mountain Hawks come into the matchup with a 5-6-3 (3-1-1) record, and are coming off of a 0-0 tie against Fairfield on Tuesday. 
  • Lehigh currently sits atop the Patriot League, as they are 3-1-1, and are two points clear of second place. 
  • In their series history, Lehigh has yet to earn a win or a tie at Ridley Athletic Complex, going 0-5 in Baltimore. 
  • Perry Kingson leads the team in goals (4), assists (4), and points (12) on the season. Thomas Robertson and Yusef Gueye each have three goals on the season. 
  • Three of Kingson's four goals this year have come from a penalty kick. 
  • In goal, Blake Koski has started in nine games this season, tallying 35 saves, a .648 save percentage, and a 2.24 goals against average. Ryan Gross has started in five games this season, posting 14 saves, a .778 save percentage, and a 0.72 goals against average.
  • In their last Patriot League contest, Lehigh won 3-1 over American at home. 
  • Lehigh has struggled on the road this season, going 1-4-1 away from Bethlehem, but 4-2-2 at home.

  • The Greyhounds are 48-14-13 in the Patriot League since the beginning of the 2016 season. 
  • In 2022, the Greyhounds set a program-high with 8 ties on the season.
  • The Greyhounds are 17-1-2 since the beginning of the 2021 season when scoring multiple goals. They are also 16-1 when leading at halftime and 15-4-13 when they out shoot opponents since the beginning of 2021. 
  • Dylan Van der Walt recorded a career-best nine saves against St. John's.  

Non-Conference Play
  • Over the past five seasons (excluding the 2020 season), the Greyhounds are 13-19-16 in non-conference play. 
  • Loyola has played all of their non-conference foes at least once before, and will face a familiar foe Iona, whom the Greyhounds were in the MAAC with prior to joining the Patriot League. 
  • During the 2023 season, the Greyhounds went 1-1-6 in non-conference play. Of their six ties, two came against ACC foes (North Carolina, Virginia Tech) and one came against then-No. 4 West Virginia, who reached the final four last season. 

Offensive Momentum
  • After a slow start to the season offensively, the Greyhounds have began to find success on the offensive end over the past few games.
  • Over their past six games, the Greyhounds have scored two goals in four of those games. 
  • Caden Stafford has come up big for Loyola, recording three goals and two assists during the stretch, with two goals coming against Navy, and two assists coming against Holy Cross. 
  • Outside of Stafford, it has been a balanced effort, with five other goal scorers during that period, as well as four different players recording an assist. 
  • In three of the last six games, the Greyhounds have also out shot their opponents, out shooting their opponent 56-47 over the last six games.
