The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds will continue non-conference play on Tuesday evening as they travel up to New York for the matchup against St. John's. 
  • This will be the 7th meeting between the two programs, as Loyola has held the advantage, posting a 3-0-3 record against the Red Storm, as Loyola has yet to lose to St. John's.

Quick Hits
  • The Greyhounds started Patriot League play as they entered the season as the Preseason favorites. Loyola earned 12 first place votes and a total of 150 points in the poll. The Greyhounds are 2-1-2 in their last five Patriot League home openers (excluding the 2020 season).  
  • In the Preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, Clemson (#1), Marshall (#8), Hofstra (#17), and Syracuse (#25) were all ranked in the poll. Loyola will be on the road for Clemson, Marshall and Syracuse, while they will host Hofstra at home on September 24. 
  • Steve Nichols enters his 11th season at the helm for the Greyhounds, and has amassed a record of 73-67-37 (48-26-15) during his tenure. 

Last Time Out
  • After a tight first half, Caden Stafford scored the opening goal of the game in the first half, as he headed in a cross from Chris Ogor, to the near post for the goal. 
  • In the second half, Loyola possessed the majority of the possession as they outshot the Midshipmen in the half. 
  • Stafford added his second goal of the game in the 73rd minute, as his right footed shot from outside the box found its way to the back of the net.
  • Navy would responded with a goal of their own just 1:16 later. 
  • The Midshipmen followed up their opening goal with a pair of goals over the next seven minutes, as they took a 3-2 lead in the 82nd minute. 
  • Despite a few looks at goal late, Loyola could not overcome the Navy rally.

  • After a slow start to the season offensively, the Greyhounds have began to find success on the offensive end over the past few games.
  • Over their past four games, the Greyhounds have scored two goals in three of those games. 
  • Caden Stafford has come up big for Loyola, recording three goals and two assists during the stretch, with two goals coming against Navy, and two assists coming against Holy Cross.
