Inside Lacrosse released their Division I Women's Preseason All-Americans on Wednesday morning, and Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse had three players make the list:
Lauren Spence,
Sydni Black, and
Georgia Latch.
Spence, a 2023 honorable mention All-American, was named second team Preseason All-American. Spence is coming off of her first season as the starting goalkeeper, where she led Loyola as the second best scoring defense in NCAA Division I, allowing just 7.09 goals per game. Spence was second in the country in goals allowed average (7.18) and fifth in saves percentage (.520), as she also led the Patriot League in both categories. She was also named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year. Held Stony Brook to just eight goals in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season.
Latch, who was named third team All-American, is coming off of another strong season for Loyola, as she tallied career-highs in goals (45), assists (44), and points (89). She ranked 13th in NCAA Division I in total assists and was 17th in total points during her sophomore campaign. Tallied a career-high with nine points in the Greyhounds win against Holy Cross, tallying five goals and four assists in the win. Had nine games last season having at least five points. Was named to the Patirot League First Team for the second straight season and was named to the Inside Lacrosse Third Team All-America.
Black is coming off of a career-high season for the Greyhounds, where she was second on the team in points (81), and third on the team in goals (55) and assists (26) -- which were all career-highs. Tied a season-high with five goals in the Patriot League Championship game against Army to secure Loyola's seventh Patriot League Tournament title. Black totaled 10 hat-tricks on the season and recorded an assist in all but six games on the season. Black was also named the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar award winner for women's lacrosse, as well as being named First Team All-Patriot League. She was named to the Inside Lacrosse All-America Honorable mention in 2023.
The Greyhounds will open up the 2024 season with a matchup against Florida on February 10 at 12:00 PM at Ridley Athletic Complex.
