Lex Therien set a school single-game and Patriot League Championships rebounding record with 23 on Monday evening, as the Greyhounds pulled away from Lehigh University in the fourth quarter to win, 58-51.
Stephanie Karcz previously held the record with 22 rebounds against Navy in the Patriot League First Round on March 9, 2019.
The 23 rebounds is also tied for the All-Time Patriot League single game record, set by Lexi Martins of Lehigh on November 19, 2015 against NJIT.
Kimmie Hicks started the fourth quarter with a big three-pointer, as they Greyhounds (16-14 overall, 10-8 Patriot League) took a 43-40 lead.
Lily Bottomley followed it up with a layup, off a assist from Hicks, to take a five-point lead.
Lex Therien then scored on the next two Loyola possessions, as the Greyhounds opened the fourth quarter on a 9-2 run.
The Mountain Hawks' (17-13 overall, 9-9 Patriot League) ended the Greyhounds run with a layup.
After both teams were held scoreless for over two minutes of game time,
Kimmie Hicks knocked down her second three of the quarter, as Loyola led 52-44 with 4:35 remaining.
With 2:49 remaining, Laura Salmeron hit her second three-pointer of the game, as the Greyhounds took a 10-point lead, 55-45.
The Greyhounds managed to wind down the clock and ice the game from the foul line, as they went on to win 58-51.
Coming out of the half, the Greyhounds offense started off strong, as they went on a 13-5 run to start the half.
Laura Salmeron was the main catalyst during the run, as she scored 9 of her 20 points on the night in the first five minutes of the half.
In total, Loyola shot 6-7 from the field, including 1-2 from three during the run, as they took a six-point lead, 37-31.
Salmeron ended with a game-high 20 points on the night.
Lex Therien posted 13 points, 23 rebounds and 5 assists on the night, while
Kimmie Hicks added 13 points on the night.
Therien out-rebounded Lehigh by herself on Monday night, outrebounding the Mountain Hawks, 23-22.
Ella Stemmer led Lehigh with 12 points on the night, while Lily Fandre added 11 points.
Loyola heads to the Patriot League Semifinals for the first time since 2015-16, as they will travel to face Holy Cross on Thursday night.
