Chase Boyle tied a career-best with 6 goals on Saturday afternoon to go along with a career-high 15 draw controls for the Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team, as the Greyhounds went on to defeat the visiting Penn State University Nittany Lions, 14-10.
Boyle led all scorers with 6 goals on the day.
Georgia Latch had three goals and two assists, while
Sydni Black added two goals and two assists.
Regan Kielmeyer posted her best game of the season, tallying one goal and three assists, while
Anna Ruby posted another three-assist game.
Loyola got the scoring started at the 11:23 mark, when
Regan Kielmeyer found
Georgia Latch for her 14
th goal of the season.
The Greyhounds (4-0 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) did not wait long to add another, as
Sydni Black scored, unassisted, just 22 seconds later.
Penn State responded with back-to-back goals 39 seconds apart, as they tied the game, 2-2, at the 6:44 mark.
Chase Boyle scored her first goal of the day, as she took advantage of the player-up opportunity, on a assist from
Anna Ruby.
The Greyhounds added another two goals over the next 1:30 of game-time, coming from Latch and Black, to extend their lead to 5-2.
The Nittany Lions (2-4 overall) added a goal with 20 seconds left in the second quarter, as they trailed 5-3 after one quarter.
Gretchen Gilmore scored early in the second quarter for Penn State, on a assist from Kristin O'Neill.
Boyle scored her second goal of the day, thanks to an assist from Latch at the 13:37 mark. Loyola added another pair of goals halfway through the third quarter, before Gilmore scored another Penn State goal.
Regan Kielmeyer scored her first goal of the season, off an assist from
Anna Ruby, as Loyola went into halftime with a 9-6 lead.
Chase Boyle took over in the second half, scoring the first two goals of the half within the first three minutes. She continued her big game scoring again with 3:21 left in the third quarter.
The Nittany Lions Kristin O'Neill scored with 2:09 remaining in the fourth quarter, as they cut their deficit down to four goals.
In the fourth quarter, Loyola's defense stepped up, holding Penn State to just two goals in the quarter.
Boyle capped off her big game, as she scored her sixth goal of the day with 7:47 remaining, as the Greyhounds held on for a 14-10 win.
Loyola dominated from the draw circle, winning 23 of 28 draws in the game, as Loyola out shot Penn State, 36-29.
Lauren Spence posted a season-high 8 saves in the win.
The Greyhounds will be back in action on Wednesday, when they travel to square off against Georgetown on Wednesday at 4:00 PM.
