BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sydni Black and Lauren Spence led Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse to a pair of conference wins last week, and the duo were named the Patriot League Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, on Monday afternoon.

Black finished the games against Navy and Lehigh with eight goals, three assists, 11 points and five draw controls, while Spence made 14 saves and played to a 9.56 goals against average in the victories.

In Wednesday's win over Navy, Black needed less than 27 minutes in the first half to tie her career-high in points, as she posted her eighth on her fifth goal of the game with 3:14 to go in the second quarter.

The senior from Cincinnati had two goals and two assists in the first quarter as Loyola led 4-3 after 15 minutes. The Greyhounds increased the lead to four and were up 8-4 with 7:15 to go in the second before Black keyed a 5-0 Greyhounds run that put them in front 13-4 going into the locker room. During that run, Black scored three times and had an assist to contribute on four of the five goals.

In Saturday's game at Lehigh that was shortened by rain and field conditions, she finished with three goals to bring her 2024 total to 33 along with 45 points.

Spence anchored the Loyola defense in the two games, yielding just 16 goals in more than 100 minutes of action.

She made seven saves in the first half of the game against Navy to help Loyola control the game from the outset with four coming in the second quarter as the Greyhounds outscored the Midshipmen 9-1 over the 15 minutes. Spence finished the game against Navy with 10 total.

The junior from Evergreen, Colorado, had four saves in the first half as Loyola led 9-4 at halftime. She finished with five in the game that was shortened to 45 minutes.

Black and Spence's awards mark both's second in three weeks. They were both honored by the Patriot League on March 11. Chase Boyle and Riley Olmstead were named to the Patriot League Week Honor Roll, as well, on Monday.

The now seventh-ranked Greyhounds will be back on the field Wednesday for a top-10 battle with No. 5 Syracuse in Central New York.
