ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Loyola University Maryland men's basketball cut Navy's 34-27 halftime lead to three less than a minute into the second half, but the Midshipmen went on an 11-1 run and led by double-digits the rest of the way on Tuesday night in the Patriot League Championships First Round.
Golden Dike scored on the second half's first possession, and
Deon Perry converted a runner in the paint to make it 34-31, but Donovan Draper hit a jumper with 18:35 for Navy, and the Midshipmen started their 11-1 run.
Jordan Pennick grabbed an offensive rebound and scored at 15:59 to put Navy in front by 11, 43-32.
Neither team scored for more than three minutes until Austin Benigni's jumper put the Midshipmen up 13. Perry made a right-side shot at 12:30 that was the Greyhounds first field goal in over six minutes.
Perry, who saw his first action since February 21 after missing three-plus games with an injury, finished with a team-high 21 points for the Greyhounds.
Alonso Faure added seven points, and Dike had a team-best eight rebounds.
Dike finished his career with 876 rebounds in a school-record 142 career games. His rebound total finishes third all-time at Loyola and seventh in Patriot League history.
