Northborough, MA – The IWLCA announced their All-Region teams on Thursday afternoon, as five members of the Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team earned All Mid-Atlantic Region honors.
Sydni Black,
Georgia Latch,
Chase Boyle, and
Lily Osborne earned first team honors, while
Lauren Spence earned second team honors.
Boyle, a junior from Rumson, New Jersey, earns her second All-Region nod of her career and first first team nod, as she was named to the First Team All Mid-Atlantic. She was named as a Tewaaraton finalist, as she leads Division I lead in goals (85). The 85 goals are also a new program record for goals in a single-season, a record she broke in the regular season finale against Bucknell. On top of her dominance on the offensive side of the field, Boyle is a true two-way midfielder, as she is third in the country in draw controls (208), which is also a Loyola and Patriot League single-season record. Boyle has been big on the defensive end of the field, drawing a matchup in 18 of 19 games this season.
Black, a senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, was named First Team All Mid-Atlantic for the second straight year. Black was named as a Tewaaraton top-25 semifinalist, and was named Patriot League Attacker of the Year and Tournament MVP. She is tied for third in goals (76) and ranks fourth in points (106) as she is one of seven players with 100 points through the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She ended the season on a 57-game goal streak, while she has scored a hat trick in 16 of 20 games this season.
Osborne, a junior defender from Oxford, Maryland, earns her first All-Region nod of her career, as she was named to the First Team All Mid-Atlantic. Following a standout season where she was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year. Osborne leads the team with 25 caused turnovers and is second with 27 ground balls, as Loyola leads ranks fifth in the country in goals against average, allowing just 8.48.
Latch, a junior from Melbourne, Austrailia, earned another All-Region nod, as she earned her third All-Region nod, and second first team nod. She ranks fifth in Division I in points (102) this season. Latch scored the game-winning goal in overtime against Navy in the Patriot League Championship game. She has scored at least three points in all but two games this season, as she has 13 hat tricks and 13 multi-assist games this season.
Spence, a junior from Evergreen, Colorado earns her second All Mid-Atlantic region nod, as she was named to the second team. She started all 21 games in goal this season, tallying 132 saves, a .462 save percentage, and a 8.64 goals against average on the season. Spence leads the team in ground balls with 42, while also tallying six caused turnovers this season.
