BALTIMORE –
Lauren Link had a team-high 12 kills and just two errors on Friday night to lead Loyola University Maryland, but visiting American University defeated the Greyhounds in three sets, 25-17, 25-15, 25-21.
Link finished with 12 kills, and
Riley Hamilton had six for the Greyhounds, but no other Loyola player had more than four.
Kacy Sekunda posted a double-double with 15 assists and 11 digs in addition to two blocks and four kills.
After Loyola led 3-2 in the first set, American went up 7-4, and the Eagles did not trail for the rest of the match.
Adelina Berisha had 17 kills to lead the Eagles, and Zedo Yilmaz added 12 while hitting .303.
Loyola will be back in action on Sunday afternoon when it hosts Navy in a 2 p.m. match at Reitz Arena.
