The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds will continue non-conference play on Tuesday evening as they will host the No. 12 Hofstra Pride. This will be the third ranked opponent the Greyhounds have faced this season.
  • This will be the 4th meeting betwen the two programs and their first meeting since 2007. Loyola holds the series edge 2-1. 

Quick Hits
  • The Greyhounds started Patriot League play as they entered the season as the Preseason favorites. Loyola earned 12 first place votes and a total of 150 points in the poll. The Greyhounds are 2-1-2 in their last five Patriot League home openers (excluding the 2020 season).  
  • In the Preseason United Soccer Coaches Poll, Clemson (#1), Marshall (#8), Hofstra (#17), and Syracuse (#25) were all ranked in the poll. Loyola will be on the road for Clemson, Marshall and Syracuse, while they will host Hofstra at home on September 24. 
  • Steve Nichols enters his 11th season at the helm for the Greyhounds, and has amassed a record of 72-65-37 (48-25-15) during his tenure. 

Last Time Out
  • Loyola hosted Boston on Saturday afternoon for their home Patriot League opener. 
  • The Terriers opened to a 2-0 lead in the first half, but the Greyhounds put together their best half of soccer on the season in the second half. 
  • Loyola scored their first goal of the season thanks to a long pass from Jordy Luchies into the box that found Caden Stafford, as Stafford headed in the ball for his first goal of the season. 
  • The Greyhounds added a second goal in the 78th minute, after a cross from Eddie Smith found Olafur Sigurjonsson at the far post, as his acrobatic finish tied up the game. 
  • Loyola had a pair of looks over the last couple of minutes, but could not score the go-ahead goal as they tied 2-2.

Scouting Hofstra
  • The Pride come into the game with a 6-1-1 (2-1) record on the season and are coming off of a 2-1 loss agaisnt Monmouth on Saturday.
  • The loss was their first loss of the season after starting 6-0-1. 
  • Coming into the matchup against Monmouth, Hofstra was ranked No. 12 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. 
  • Through 8 games, Jacob Woznicki leads the team with 5 goals on the season. Three other players have two goals on the season. 
  • Laurie Goddard leads the team with three assists to go along with two goals on the season. 
  • In goal, Filippo Dadone has played every minute in goal, tallying 23 saves, a .821 save percentage, and a .63 goals against average on the season.

Non-Conference Play
  • Over the past five seasons (excluding the 2020 season), the Greyhounds are 12-19-16 in non-conference play. 
  • Loyola has played all of their non-conference foes at least once before, and will face a familiar foe Iona, whom the Greyhounds were in the MAAC with prior to joining the Patriot League. 
  • During the 2023 season, the Greyhounds went 1-1-6 in non-conference play. Of their six ties, two came against ACC foes (North Carolina, Virginia Tech) and one came against then-No. 4 West Virginia, who reached the final four last season.
