The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds are back on the road on Saturday as they travel up to New York to face Colgate. 
  • This will be the 14th matchup between the two programs, with the Greyhounds holding a 7-3-3 record in the series. 
  •  Loyola has gone 4-0-1 over the last five meetings, including winning each of their last four games at Colgate.

  • The Greyhounds entered the season picked to finish in fourth place in the Patriot League Preseason Poll, earning 54 points in the poll.
  • Loyola finished the 2024 season in sixth place in the Patriot League, losing to American in penalty kicks 5-4, in the Patriot League Quarterfinals.
  • Graduate defender Jordy Luchies was named to the Patriot League Preseason All-League Team for the Greyhounds. 
  • Steve Nichols enters his 12th season at the helm for the Greyhounds, and has amassed a record of 78-77-41 (49-31-17) during his tenure. 

Key Returners
  • The Greyhounds will have a lot of new faces in 2025, as they feature 13 new players on the roster.
  • Dylan Van der Walt, who started every game in goal last season, returns for the Greyhounds and looks to return to his form from the 2023 season. 
  • In the back line, Luchies returns with Charlie Herley, Chris Ogor, and Oscar Halls, all who started at least 13 games last season. 
  • In the midfield, Richie Nichols returns for his final season, joined by Ben Schouten, who aims to make a big step in the Greyhounds midfield this season.
  • Sophomore's Eddie Smith and Tyler Flynn will also look to build off of their strong freshman campaign's.

Scouting Colgate
  • The Raiders come into the matchup with a 5-5-3 (1-2-2) record on the season and are coming off of a 5-0 loss to Cornell on Tuesday evening. 
  • In their last Patriot League contest, Colgate lost 1-0 to Boston on the road on October 10. 
  • Entering this weekend, both teams sit on the outside looking in of the Patriot League Championships, as Colgate and Loyola sit at 7th and 8th place respectively in the Patriot League currently. 
  • Cole ramey leads the team with three goals on the season, while Blake Pipkin leads the team with a pair of assists this season. 
  • In goal, Eric Widrick has played every minute in goal, as he has a 0.823 save percentage, 65 saves, and a 1.08 GAA through 13 games. 
  • Colgate earned their lone win in Patriot League play with a 2-0 home win over Navy on October 4. They picked up 0-0 draws against Bucknell and Lafayette on the season as well.

  • The Greyhounds are 50-19-15 in the Patriot League since the beginning of the 2016 season. 
  • In 2022, the Greyhounds set a program-high with 8 ties on the season.
  • The Greyhounds are 19-1-4 since the beginning of the 2021 season when scoring multiple goals. They are also 19-1-2 when leading at halftime and 18-6-13 when they out shoot opponents since the beginning of 2021. 
  • When opponents score first this season, when trailing at halftime, and when recording fewer corner kicks, Loyola is 0-8. 
  • Since the beginning of the 2021 season, Loyola is 12-12-6 in the month of October.
  • Loyola is 1-3-1 in Patriot League openers since 2021.

Non-Conference Play
  • Over the past five seasons (excluding the 2020 season), the Greyhounds are 14-23-17 in non-conference play. 
  • Loyola has played all of their non-conference foes at least once before, and will face a familiar foe Iona, whom the Greyhounds were in the MAAC with prior to joining the Patriot League. 
  • During the 2024 season, the Greyhounds went 1-4-2 in non-conference play. Of their four losses, three of them came to ranked opponents.
  • Five of Loyola's eight non-conference games will be on the road this season, including five of their last six non-conference games being on the road.
