The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds will host Navy on Wednesday evening for their regular season finale. 
  • This will be a crucial matchup for both teams, as both teams are fighting for a chance to secure their spot in the Patriot League Championships.
  • Navy has held the edge over the last six matchups, winning four of them, including last season.  
  • Navy won their matchup last season in a shootout, 4-3, in Annapolis.

  • The Greyhounds 3-1-1 start to the season is their best five-game start to the season since the 2016 season, where they also started 3-1-1. 
  • Loyola's six game unbeaten streak to start Patriot League play is the longest unbeaten streak to start conference play since joining the Patriot League. 
  • Loyola currently is the No. 4 seed in the Patriot League entering the matchup.

Greyhounds at Home
  • The Greyhounds posted another winning record at home during the 2024 season, tallying a 6-2-3 record at Ridley last season. 
  • Over the last five seasons, Loyola has a 24-14-10 record at home. 
  • This season, the Greyhounds have been outscored at home by three goals, as they have scored six goals while allowing nine. Loyola has allowed only five goals on the road this season. 
  • At home this season, Loyola is 2-3-3, while they are 3-1-4 on the road.
  • Nine wins at home in 2023 season is tied for the second most wins at home in a single-season, tying with 2005 when they finished 9-0 at home. The most wins at home came in 1996 when the Greyhounds went 11-0-1 at home. 

Greyhounds Defense
  • The Greyhounds defense has been one of the best unit's in the Patriot League this season, as they have allowed the fewest goals (14) in the conference. 
  • The back line is led by Zoe Willis, Riley Kennel, Renee Wanzor, and Payton Hurley, who have each started every game and are the top four players on the team in minutes played, led by Willis with 1,429 minutes in 16 games. 
  • Kennel and Willis have added to the Greyhounds attack as well, as Kennel has two goals and an assist, while Willis has a assist on the season. 
  • In goal, the Greyhounds rotated goalies in non-conference play, and both Brigid Mulholland and Hannah Goetzer played well in goal, as they have combined for a  0.816 save percentage, 62 saves, and a 0.880 GAA this season. 
  • Loyola has also shutout six opponents this year, including a three-game shutout streak during the season.

Scouting Navy
  • The Midshipmen come into the matchup with a 9-6-3 (2-3-3) record on the season, as they are coming off of a 2-0 loss to Lafayette on Friday. 
  • After winning their Patriot League opener over Boston, Navy had a four game winless streak before a 3-0 win over American. 
  • Marlee Heaven leads the team with 9 goals and 21 points. Chiara Cosenza leads the team with five assists and is second with 13 points. 
  • Of Heaven's 9 goals, only three have come during Patriot League play. 
  • In goal, Natasha Stramrood has started in 16 games, tallying 62 saves, a .805 save percentage, and a 1.02 GAA. 
  • Over their last five games, Navy has scored six goals, while allowing five goals. 

Quick Notes
  • The 2025 season will be the 13th season the Greyhounds have been in the Patriot League, going 37-48-28  in the Patriot League during that span, reaching the Patriot League Championships in six straight seasons, including four trips to the Semifinals. 
  • This is Head Coach Joe Mallia's second stint at the helm with the Greyhounds. During his first stint, Mallia went 87-45-9 (54-4-5, MAAC), Winning the MAAC Regular-Season Championship four times, and the MAAC Tournament Championship three times.
  • In his four season's back at the helm, Mallia has gone 44-37-25. 
  • The Greyhounds have gone 67-48-22 at home since the opening of Ridley Athletic Complex. 

Recipe for Success 
  • When scoring first this season, the Greyhounds are 4-0-3 on the season. 
  • When scoring at least one goal this season, Loyola is 5-0-4, including 4-0 when scoring multiple goals.
  • The Greyhounds have won 30 of the last 34 games in which they have scored two goals or more, which dates back to Sept. 6, 2018. Loyola was 5-1 when scoring multiple goals last season.
  • The Greyhounds are 33-2-8 when scoring first and 23-1-2 when leading at halftime since the beginning of the 2022 season.
  • Loyola has experienced success on the road this season, posting a 3-1-4 record on the season. In those eight games, the Greyhounds have allowed just five goals. 
  • Loyola has allowed two or more goals just three times this season. 

Between The Pipes
  • After splitting games during non-conference season with Mulholland, Hannah Goetzer has started each Patriot League game, and has been one of the top goalkeepers in the country this season. 
  • Through 12 games started, Goetzer has a .836 save percentage, 51 saves, and a 0.830 Goals Against Average (GAA) this season. 
  • Prior to Colgate, her save percentage ranked third in all of Division I, while her 0.50 GAA ranked 6th. 
  • Goetzer is second the Patriot League in save percentage, and GAA this season.

Key Returners
  • Brigid Mulholland returns in goal for Loyola after playing every minute in goal for the Greyhounds during the 2024 season. She has posted  a .733 save percentage, 11 saves, and a 1.00 GAA in four games this season.
  • Zoe Willis returns to anchor the Greyhounds back line, as she was named to the Patriot League Preseason All-League team. Willis has started in all 16 games, as he has one assist on the season, while leading the team in minutes played (1,429). 
  • Willis is joined by Riley Kennel and Payton Hurley on the right and left back spots. Hurley and Kennel rank second and fourth on the team, respectively, in minutes played. Kennel is tied for the team lead in goals (2) and points (5), while being named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week twice, and earning a nod to the TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week on October 6. 
  • Renee Wanzor has played a key role in her second year for Loyola, as she has started every game on the back line and ranks third on the team in minutes played (1,349). 
  • Francesca Khachatourians has been a boost off of the bench this season, making 11 of her 16 appearances off the bench, as she leads the team with three assists this season.
