Bucknelll, Women's Soccer Battle to 0-0 Draw

BALTIMORE — Loyola University Maryland's defense stood tall once again, as the Greyhounds battled Patriot League foe Bucknell to a scoreless draw Saturday afternoon at Ridley Athletic Complex.

Loyola (4-2-6, 1-0-3 Patriot League) controlled much of the match, owning 59% of the possession and outplaying the Bison in the midfield. Goalkeeper Hannah Goetzer anchored the defense with four key saves to secure her fifth shutout of the season.

Despite the final score, Loyola created several dangerous chances. Savannah Manset and Asma Merzougui led the Greyhounds' attack, each testing Bucknell goalkeeper Reese Dolan with shots on target in both halves. Manset fired a clean strike in the fourth minute that forced Dolan's early save, while Merzougui nearly broke the deadlock in the 86th minute before another stop by the Bison keeper.

The Greyhounds' back line — led by Renee Wanzor, Zoe Willis, Payton Hurley, and Riley Kennel — shut down Bucknell's attack, limiting the visitors to just four shots on goal and keeping the box organized through a busy second half.

Loyola generated late momentum with a pair of corner kicks in the closing minutes but could not find the game-winning goal.

With the draw, Loyola remains unbeaten in Patriot League play and continues to build momentum heading into the heart of the conference schedule. The Greyhounds will return to action next Friday as they will travel to face Lehigh.
