BALTIMORE — Loyola University Maryland women's tennis wrapped up a competitive weekend at the McClure Invitational, hosted at the McClure Tennis Center, with matchups against Morgan State, Towson, and Johns Hopkins from Oct. 3–5.
Friday: Loyola vs. Morgan State
Loyola opened the tournament with a split in doubles before winning two of three showing in singles against Morgan State. The Greyhounds' top doubles team of Emi Shivkumar and Elena Hartley secured a 6–3 win over Lauryn Hall and Marta Serra. In singles, Kate Agnew and Liza Tankimovich earned victories.
Saturday: Loyola vs. Towson
Loyola bounced back with a strong performance against Towson, winning both doubles matches and three of five singles contests. Christine Richiez and Jocelyn Assael edged out a three-set win at No. 1 doubles, and Sabrina Grewal and Katie Moorhead won in straight sets at No. 2. In singles, Elena Hartley and Mia Matriccino led the way with straight-set victories, and Lily Langhus added a win at No. 5. Towson claimed wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
Sunday: Loyola vs. Johns Hopkins
The Greyhounds closed the weekend against Johns Hopkins. Richiez and Emma Roeck earned a doubles win at the top spot, but Loyola fell in the second doubles match and dropped both singles contests played. Hopkins' Sahana Sanjeev and Karah Li defeated Matriccino and Tankimovich in straight sets.
