The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds will close 2025 and begin Patriot League play on Wednesday afternoon, as they welcome American to Reitz Arena. 
  • This will be the 37th meeting between the two programs, with American holding the edge in the series, 27-9. Loyola, however, has won three of the last four games, including both games last season.  

Quick Hits 
  • Loyola features an experienced squad this year, as Loyola features nine upperclassmen on the roster, combining to play over 500 career games.  
  • The Greyhounds will face all but two Division I teams in the state of Maryland this season, starting with #10 Maryland.
  • The Greyhounds have won four of their last five games, with their last three wins coming after trailing in the fourth quarter.    

Non-Conference Recap
  • Non-conference play opened with No. 10 Maryland, where they fell 80-26.
  • Loyola then hosted La Salle for their home opener, but fell 71-59. Loyola began a two-game trip where they lost to Virginia Tech 64-48, before losing to Radord 59-50.
  • The Greyhounds remained on the road to take on Drexel in Philadelphia, where they fell 66-57, before returning home to face Mount St. Mary's, losing 69-50.
  • Loyola then traveled to Yale on November 23, winning 73-48. They headed into Thanksgiving with a home matchup against Delaware, losing 67-55.
  • The Greyhounds wrap up non-conference play with a trio of local opponents: earning comeback wins over Towson, UMBC, and Morgan State to close out non-conference play.

Scouting American
  • American enters Patriot League play with a 2-9 record on the season, and are coming off of a 65-61 win over UMBC on December 21.
  • The Eagles are averaging 55.5 points per game on 36.9 percent shooting, while allowing 67.4 points per game on 43.3 percent shooting. 
  • American is led by Molly Driscoll who is averaging 13.6 points per game. Madisyn Moore-nicholson and Charlotte Tuhy are both averaging double figures, averaging 10.2 and 10.1 points per game respectively. 
  • In their win over UMBC, Tuhy and Moore-Nicholson both scored 20 points in the win. 
  • In the Patriot League Preseason Poll, American was picked to finish in tenth place. 

Building Momentum
  • After a tough start to the season, the Greyhounds have won four of their last five games entering their matchup against American. 
  • Loyola has begun to find more consistency on the offensive end, as they have shot 40 percent or better from the field in six of their last eight games. 
  • In their win over Towson, the Greyhounds tallied a season-best 17 offensive rebounds, 50 total rebounds, a .857 free throw percentage (18-21), and their first overtime win of the season.
  • Lex Therien has scored at least 20 points in four of her last six games games for the Greyhounds.

More On Therien
  • In six career games against the Eagles, Lex Therien is averaging 15.8 points and 11.6 rebounds, including five double-doubles in those six games. Therien averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds in their two matchups during the 2023-24 season.
  • Therien entered this season ranked seventh in career points (1,361), second in field goals made (569), and fifth in total rebounds (1,006), while holding the program record for rebounds per game (10.8). She also owns three of the top five single-season rebounding marks in program history.
  • In the Greyhounds win over Yale, Therien recorded her 50th career double-double, which leads all active Divison I players this season. 
  • Therien had a three-game 20-point double-double streak, as she now has a Division I high of 52 career double-doubles.
