MEDIA, Pa. – Loyola University Maryland women's tennis went on the road Saturday to open its 2024-25 dual meet schedule, and the Greyhounds did so with a 4-3 triumph at St. Joseph's University at the Springton Tennis Club.
Emi Shivkumar and
Jocelyn Assael picked up a 6-3 win over the Hawks' Gisele Tang and Ana Ocasio at No. 3 doubles, but St. Joseph's won the other two matches to claim the point.
Victoria Tracey and Wiktoria Canery topped
Lauren Manwiller and
Emma Roeck, 7-5, at No. 1; Brooke Tackett and Charlotte Kordonowy got past
Jessica Bodewes and
Christine Richiez by the same score at No. 2.
Loyola evened the match in singles with Bodewes picking up a win by default at No. 6, and the Greyhounds then earned three other points on the court.
Richiez was a 6-2, 3-6, 10-0 winner in a super-tiebreaker against Tracey at No. 1 singles,a nd
Mia Matriccino dispatched Tackett, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 4.
Roeck dropped just one point and beat Ocasio, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5.
Canery was a 6-2, 6-2 winner against Manwiller at No. 2, and Kordonowy topped
Elena Hartley, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 3.
