The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds hit the road on Wednesday, as they travel to face the Bucknell Bison in a Patriot League matchup.  
  • This will be the 29th meeting in the series between the two teams, as the Bison hold the series edge 26-6, as they have won 11 straight games in the series.    

Quick Hits 
  • In their first matchup this season, Koi Sims recorded 16 points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 2 steals in the loss, as Bucknell used a big third quarter to pull away.  
  • Loyola was picked as the Preseason favorites in the Patriot League after receiving 148 points and 10 first place votes in the poll. This marks just the second time since 2000 that the Greyhounds were picked as Preseason favorites (2004-05, MAAC). 
  • Lex Therien was also named the Preseason Player of the Year entering the 2024-25 season, which is the first Greyhounds player since Katie Sheahin in 2012-13 to be named the Preseason Player of the Year. 

Non-Conference Recap
  • Non-conference play concluded on Monday for the Greyhounds, as they finished non-conference play with their first winning record since the 2005-06 season.  
  • Loyola started the season with a 1-2 record, after two losses to James Madison and St. John's, while beating in-town foe UMBC. 
  • They followed it up with a three-game winning streak, winning each game by double-digits. 
  • After a road loss to Binghamton, the Greyhounds returned to Reitz where they defeated Radford in a overtime thriller, 70-64. 
  • After losses to Mount St. Mary's and No. 3 Notre Dame, the Greyhounds wrapped up non-conference play with a win over Haverford to finish 82-38. 

Scouting Bucknell
  • Bucknell comes into the matchup with a 14-12 (9-6) record on the season, and are coming off of a 69-54 loss at Army on Saturday.
  • After winning three-straight games, the Bison have lost their last two games, losing on the road to Lehigh and Army. 
  • The Bison are averaging 60.2 points per game on 41.7 percent shooting on the season, while allow9ing 59.8 points per game on 38.3 percent shooting. 
  • Ashley Sofilkanich leads the league in scoring on the season, averaging 20.0 points per game, as she is also third in the league in rebounds, averaging 8.6 per game. 
  • The Bison currenlty sit tied for fifth in the Patriot League standings, tied with Holy Cross with three games remaining.  

Heating Up
  • Amandine Amorich has found her stride on the offensive end of the floor for the Greyhounds this season, as the sophomore forward has scored in double figures in 13 games this season. 
  • Laura Salmeron has led the charge for the Greyhounds, as she has averaged 14.3 points per game in conference play and ranks seventh in made three-pointers in league play (24). 
  • Salmeron and Amorich have also been a key contributor on defense, as she Salmeron leads the team with 41 steals, as Amrorich is second with 35 steals.
  • Salmeron, Amorich, and Sims are each averaging double-figures in conference play this season, while Sims is also averaging 11.0 rebounds per game. 
  • Koi Sims is averaging a career-best 9.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, as she posted a 16-point and 13 rebound double-double against Bucknell in their last meeting.

Worth Noting
  • With seven rebounds against St. John's Lex Therien became the fifth player in program history to reach 1,000 career rebounds. She now has over 1,000 career points and rebounds. 
  • Therien came into the season with 47 career double-doubles.

By The Numbers
  • So far this season, all but one of the Greyhounds wins have come when they have led at halftime. Likewise, they have won all but five games this season when shooting a better percentage from the field. 
  • When scoring at least 60 points this season, the Greyhounds are 7-2. Dating back to the beginning of last season, Loyola is 18-4 when scoring at least 60 points. 
  • While scoring less than 60 points this season, the Greyhounds are 1-15.
  • Loyola posted a 5-7  record while playing at home, while going 4-10 on the road this season. 
  • Following a loss this season, Loyola has gone 7-9 on the season.
