Lewisburg -- Bucknell University used a 31-6 run over the final 11:53 of the first quarter to jump out to a 24-point first half lead over the visiting Loyola University Maryland women's basketball team, as they went on to win 79-45 in a Patriot League matchup.
The Bison (15-12 overall, 10-6 Patriot League) started the game fast, as they jumped out to a early 8-0 lead, to force a early Loyola timeout.
Coming out of the timeout, the Greyhounds (9-18 overall, 3-13 Patriot League) responded with a run of their own, as they went on a 9-0 run to take the 9-8 lead.
After a Bucknell basket,
Koi Sims responded with a three-pointer, for her second made three of her career.
Both teams traded baskets down the stretch of the first quarter, as Lily Bottemly made a turn around jumper to retake the lead at 16-15 with 2:43 left in the first quarter.
The Bison closed out the quarter on a 7-0 run, as they led at the end of the first quarter, 22-16.
Bucknell continued their momentum throughout the second quarter, as they went on a 24-6 run in the second quarter to jump out to a 46-22 lead at the half.
Loyola could not slow down Bucknell in the second half, as the Bison shot 61.5% from the floor in the game, as they went on to win 79-45.
Koi Sims led the team with 13 points, while
Avery Simmons had 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The Greyhounds will be at home over the final two games, as they host Navy at noon on Saturday for senior day.
