The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds regular season is winding down, as they will host Navy on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day.  
  • This will be the 35th meeting between the two programs, with the Midshipmen holding a 20-14 lead in the series. Navy won the first meeting this season, 63-59.    

Quick Hits 
  • Amandine Amorich scored a career-best 20 points for the Greyhounds in their first matchup against Navy. Koi Sims also had 17-points, 11-rebounds in the first meeting.  
  • Loyola was picked as the Preseason favorites in the Patriot League after receiving 148 points and 10 first place votes in the poll. This marks just the second time since 2000 that the Greyhounds were picked as Preseason favorites (2004-05, MAAC). 
  • Lex Therien was also named the Preseason Player of the Year entering the 2024-25 season, which is the first Greyhounds player since Katie Sheahin in 2012-13 to be named the Preseason Player of the Year. 

Non-Conference Recap
  • Non-conference play concluded on Monday for the Greyhounds, as they finished non-conference play with their first winning record since the 2005-06 season.  
  • Loyola started the season with a 1-2 record, after two losses to James Madison and St. John's, while beating in-town foe UMBC. 
  • They followed it up with a three-game winning streak, winning each game by double-digits. 
  • After a road loss to Binghamton, the Greyhounds returned to Reitz where they defeated Radford in a overtime thriller, 70-64. 
  • After losses to Mount St. Mary's and No. 3 Notre Dame, the Greyhounds wrapped up non-conference play with a win over Haverford to finish 82-38. 

Scouting Navy
  • Navy comes into the matchup with a 17-10 (9-7) record on the season, as they are coming off of a 88-60 win over American on Wednesday evening.
  • Navy currently sits in sixth place in the Patriot League standings, and are still in play for the fourth seed with two games remaining in the regular season. 
  • Navy ranks third in the Patriot League in scoring offense, as they are averaging 67.6 points per game on the season. 
  • Zanai Barnett-Gay is second in the league in scoring, averaging 19.2 points per game on the season. 
  • She also ranks fifth in rebounds (7.6) and seventh in assists (3.2)  per game in the Patriot League. 
  • Barnett-Gay is the lone Midshipmen averaging double-figures on the season, while seven players are averaging over five points per game for Navy. 

Heating Up
  • Amandine Amorich has found her stride on the offensive end of the floor for the Greyhounds this season, as the sophomore forward has scored in double figures in 13 games this season. 
  • Laura Salmeron has led the charge for the Greyhounds, as she has averaged 14.3 points per game in conference play and ranks seventh in made three-pointers in league play (24). 
  • Salmeron and Amorich have also been a key contributor on defense, as she Salmeron leads the team with 43 steals, as Amrorich is second with 35 steals.
  • Salmeron, Amorich, and Sims are each averaging double-figures in conference play this season, while Sims is also averaging 11.0 rebounds per game. 
  • Koi Sims is averaging a career-best 9.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game, as she posted a 16-point and 13 rebound double-double against Bucknell in their last meeting.

Worth Noting
  • With seven rebounds against St. John's Lex Therien became the fifth player in program history to reach 1,000 career rebounds. She now has over 1,000 career points and rebounds. 
  • Sims is six offensive rebounds away from setting the single-season program record.

By The Numbers
  • So far this season, all but one of the Greyhounds wins have come when they have led at halftime. Likewise, they have won all but five games this season when shooting a better percentage from the field. 
  • When scoring at least 60 points this season, the Greyhounds are 7-2. Dating back to the beginning of last season, Loyola is 18-4 when scoring at least 60 points. 
  • While scoring less than 60 points this season, the Greyhounds are 1-16.
  • Loyola posted a 5-7 record while playing at home, while going 4-11 on the road this season. 
  • Following a loss this season, Loyola has gone 7-10 on the season.
