Boston -- Boston College opened the game with five straight goals on Friday afternoon, as they outpaced the visiting Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team, 21-7, in the season opener.
Ava Kane and
Mim Suares-Jury led the way with two goals each on the afternoon.
Georgia Latch added a goal and two assists, while
Chase Boyle and
Anna Kaplan had a goal each.
The Eagles (1-0 overall) opened the game fast in the first quarter, as they jumped out to a 5-0 lead 10 minutes into the game.
Chase Boyle Scored the opening goal for Loyola late in the first quarter, as she cut the deficit down to four goals entering the second quarter.
Boston College and Loyola traded goals to begin the second quarter, before the Eagles closed the first half on a 6-0 run, as they led 12-2 at the half.
The Greyhounds (0-1 overall) started the second half fast, as they opened with two goals in the first two minutes, as
Mim Suares-Jury and
Georgia Latch cut the deficit back to 8 goals. Suares-Jury scored her second goal in her college debut with 11:42 remaining, on the assist from fellow Australian
Georgia Latch.
Boston College would close out the game on a 8-2 run, as they held on for the 21-7 win.
Loyola controlled the draw circle, as they led Boston College 19-12 from the circle. The Greyhounds struggled on the offensive end, as they turned the ball over 17 times in the game.
The Eagles were led by Rachel Clark who had 7 goals on the day and Emma LoPinto who added 6 goals. Shea Dolce recorded 8 saves in the win.
Loyola will host American next Saturday for their home opener at 3:00 PM at Ridley Athletic Complex.
