Baltimore -- The Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse scored three goals within a minute in the fourth quarter on Wednesday evening to cut their deficit down to two goals, but could not complete the comeback, as they fell to the visiting Pennsylvania University Quakers, 12-10.
Anna Kaplan scored a goal late in the third quarter, as
Chase Boyle found her in front of net, as Kaplan fought through a couple defenders to score the goal, to cut the Loyola deficit to two goals heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Penn scored a goal just 19 seconds in, as Anna Brandt scored a player-up free-position goal to take a three-goal lead. The Quakers (4-2 overall) added another pair of goals in the fourth quarter, capped off by another Brandt goal, as they led 12-7 with 6:18 remaining in the fourth.
Gabby Stapleton started the run for Loyola, as she scored on a free-position goal to make it a 12-8 deficit with 6:00 minutes remaining.
After winning the ensuing draw control,

Latch would repeat the feat, as after winning the draw, Latch came down and took it herself, as she scored her third of the day, as Loyola trailed 12-10 with 5:09 remaining.
Lily Osborne won the next draw for the Greyhounds (4-4 overall, 1-0 Patriot League), but a shot from
Elisa Faklaris just infront of net went wide, as Penn grabbed the ground ball.
On defense, the Greyhounds held strong, as
Lauren Spence made two big saves for Loyola, as they got the ball back, thanks to a
Mim Suares-Jury caused turnover.
On offense, Loyola circled the ball looking for a scoring chance, but a Penn double-team forced a Loyola turnover, as Penn would drain the remainder of the clock, as they held on for the 12-10 win.
Georgia Latch finished with three goals and two assists for five points on the night. With her two assists, Latch is now second in career assists in program history, trailing only Livy Rosenzweig.
