BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Jessica Bodewes scored a singles win for the Loyola University Maryland women's tennis team on Sunday against Lehigh University, but the Mountain Hawks topped the Greyhounds on both the men's and women's sides.
Bodewes took a 6-4, 6-4 win over Allyce Gaborik at No. 6 singles in the women's match, and the Greyhounds had a victory on the No. 1 doubles line, too.
Lauren Manwiller and
Emma Roeck topped Maggie Forkner and Goborik, 7-5, in the No. 1 match.
Allina Shyani and Ronit Khromchenko got by Bodewes and
Christine Richiez, 6-4, at No. 2 doubles, and Hamsa Javagal paired with Audrey Harrington for a 6-2 victory against
Jocelyn Assael and
Emi Shivkumar.
Four singles matches went to a third set, but all fell in Lehigh's column. Fornker outlasted Richiez, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1 singles, and Javagal edged Loyola's
Elena Hartley, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5, at No. 2.
Khromchenko topped Manwiller, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5), 6-0, at No. 4 singles, and Giselle Vlassis downed Roeck, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, at No. 5. Shyani beat
Mia Matriccino, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 3 singles.
In the men's match, Marc Blekhman and Sean Jaeger got past
Noah Castillo and
Ryan Gill, 7-5, at No. 1 doubles, and Luke Donovan and Jose Murariu stopped
George Cavo and
Cristian Pemueller, 6-2, at No. 2. Rafael Gracie and Wyeth Anzilotti defeated
Nick Lawliss and
Harry Zeiders, 6-3, at No. 3.
In singles,
Trevor Girandola pushed the No. 6 match to a third set but fell, 6-7 (1), 7-5, (10-2), at No. 6. Murariu beat Castillo, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 1, and Blekhman was leading
Ryan Gill, 5-1, in No. 2 singles when Gill retired.
Jaeger beat
Blake Edwards, 6-3, 6-2, Jackson Morash topped Cavo, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4 and Gracie defeated Pemueller, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 5.
