Women's Basketball Season Comes to a Close in Patriot League First Round

Boston -- Boston University used a 15-2 run to close out the first quarter, as they lead by double digits the rest of the game, as they defeated the visiting Loyola University Maryalnd women's basketball team 75-51 in the first round of the Patriot League Championships. 

Nine different players scored for the Greyhounds on Saturday afternoon, led by Laura Salmeron who had 9 points. Koi Sims had five rebounds to go along with five points, while Salmeron added four assists and two steals. 

After Boston took a early 9-2 lead, Loyola cut their deficit down to four points, as Meliah Van-Otoo scored on a driving layup, before Laura Salmeron knocked down a three-pointer to trail 11-7. 

From there, Boston went on their 15-2 run to close out the first quarter, as the Terriers shot 5-6 from the floor during their run, while holding the Greyhounds to just 1-3. 

Boston's momentum continued in the second quarter, as they opened their lead to as many as 21 points in the second quarter, but the Greyhounds managed to use baskets from Kailey Kalet and Koi Sims to cut their deficit down to 15, but Boston hit a three-pointer right before half, as they led 36-18 going into halftime. 

The Terriers continued to hold the momentum throughout the remainder of the game, as they held off a second half rally from Loyola, as Boston went on to win 75-51, and will play Lehigh in the next round.
