Baltimore -- Georgia Latch scored a career-high seven goals and added three assists to lift Loyola University Maryland past Holy Cross, 20-10, on Saturday afternoon at Ridley Athletic Complex.
With the win, the Greyhounds secured the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League tournament, which begins on May 1.
Latch led a strong Loyola (11-5, 7-0 Patriot League) offense that overwhelmed the Crusaders from the opening whistle, as the Greyhounds scored seven first-quarter goals and never looked back. Loyola scored three goals within a 46 second stretch early in the first quarter to pull out to a early 3-1 lead.
With the win, Loyola remains undefeated in conference play and extends its winning streak to six.
Elisa Faklaris added four goals and two assists, while Chase Boyle and Mim Suares-Jury chipped in three goals apiece. The Greyhounds outshot Holy Cross 38-28 and held the Crusaders to 1-6 on extra-player opportunities.
Loyola pulled away with a 7-1 run in the third quarter, turning an 11-7 lead into an 18-7 advantage by the end of the quarter. The Greyhounds' defense also stepped up in key moments, with goalie Lauren Spence making eight saves in 48 minutes of work.
Ella Kittredge led Holy Cross (8-7, 4-4) with four goals, while Isabela Miller added two goals and an assist.
The win was Loyola's third third game this season, and second in a row, scoring 20 goals, as Loyola is now 8-0 on the season when scoring at least 15 goals.
Loyola dominated the draw circle once again, as they won 25 of 33 draws in the game, led by Boyle with 9 and Latch with 8.
Loyola wraps up Patriot League play next week, as they will travel to face Bucknell to close out the season on Thursday.
