Lewisburg — The Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team secured a perfect 9-0 Patriot League regular season and their 10th straight Patriot League Regular season Championship with a commanding 19-6 win over Bucknell on Thursday evening at Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
With five goals and 17 draw controls,
Chase Boyle broke the Loyola program record for career goals and draws. Boyle broke Grace Gavin's ('11) career mark for goals of 229, as she now sits at 230 goals. She broke Jillian Wilson's ('23) career mark for draws of 449, as Boyle now has 456 career draw controls.
Led by five-goal performances from both
Elisa Faklaris and
Chase Boyle, the Greyhounds (12-5, 9-0 PL) used a second-quarter surge to put the game out of reach. Loyola outscored Bucknell 8-2 in the frame to take a 12-3 halftime lead and never looked back.
Georgia Latch fueled the strong offensive game with a game-high nine points, tallying three goals and six assists. Faklaris and Boyle each added multiple free-position goals, as Loyola capitalized on 6-of-8 opportunities.
The Greyhounds were dominant at the draw circle, finishing with a 24-3 advantage in draw controls, led by Boyle with 17 and
Mim Suares-Jury with a career-high 6. Suares-Jury contributed two goals and one assist as well.
Defensively, Loyola held Bucknell (6-10, 2-7 PL) scoreless in the third quarter and limited the Bison to just six goals on 25 shots. Goalkeeper
Lauren Spence picked up the win with nine saves over three quarters of play.
Gabby Stapleton chipped in two goals for Loyola, while
Ava Kane added two goals and one assist.
Allie Boyce paced Bucknell with two goals and an assist. Carly Cenci, Alex Macutek, Caroline Sheridan, and Alex Nesbitt each added a goal in the loss.
Loyola will host the Patriot League Championship Semifinal and Final, as the Semifinals will start on May 1, as Loyola will play at 3:00 PM. Army West Point will be the No. 2 seed and their semifinal game will begin at 7:00 PM.
