HAMILTON, N.Y. — Navy advanced to the semifinals of the Patriot League Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 victory over Loyola Maryland on Friday afternoon in the quartefinal round.
The Midshipmen secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Emily Tannenbaum and Olivia Fermo edged Loyola's Lauren Manwiller and Emma Roeck, 7-5, while Emma Gu and Manci Pal defeated Jessica Bodewes and Christine Richiez, 6-3. The No. 3 doubles match was unfinished with Navy's Kate Lee and Mackenzie Lee leading the Greyhounds' Jocelyn Assael and Emi Shivkumar, 5-4.
In singles play, Navy earned straight-set victories at No. 1, No. 5, and No. 6 to clinch the match. Tannenbaum topped Richiez, 6-1, 6-0; Gu defeated Bodewes by the same score; and Kate Lee posted a 6-3, 6-1 win over Shivkumar. The remaining matches at No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4 were left unfinished.
