Brown, ’21, Qualifies For First PGA Tour Event

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – Former Loyola University Maryland All-American Evan Brown, '21, tied for first at the Rocket Classic Monday Qualifier today and will make his PGA Tour debut this weekend.
 
Brown will become the second Loyola player (Brandon Berry, '21, M'22) to play in a PGA Tour event and the third in Patriot League history (Navy's Billy Hurley III).
 
He shot 6-under 66 at Fieldstone Golf Club to tie with Andi Xu for first in the for the June 26-29 tournament that will be played at the Detroit Golf Club. Brown has played on the PGA Tour Americas since 2022.
 
At Loyola, Brown earned PING All-America Honorable Mention recognition in 2021, becoming the first Greyhounds player to receive that honor in program history. He was a three-time PING/GCAA All-Region player in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
 
He was a two-time All-Patriot League First Team honoree with a pair of top-five finishes in the Patriot League Championships (T-4, 2019; 2nd, 2021) during his career.
 
Brown set the Loyola records for career scoring average (71.85) and to-par scoring (0.46). He also holds the two lowest season-scoring averages in school history (70.90, 2020-21; 70.95, 2019-20).
 
Brown also earned Academic All-Patriot League and Srixon/Cleveland GCAA All-America Scholar recognition as a senior in 2021 when he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in finance from Loyola. He concluded his collegiate career at the University of Mississippi in 2021-22 where he competed and earned his Master of Sport Analytics.
 
The Rocket Classic will start Thursday, June 26, and run through Sunday, June 29, after a 36-hole cut on Friday.
