BALTIMORE, MD – Loyola Maryland University men's soccer team delivered an impressive performance to open the 2025-26 season, defeating NJIT 2-0 on Thursday evening at Ridley Athletic Complex.
The Greyhounds wasted little time asserting themselves. In the fifth minute, defender Jack Endacott scored the season's first goal, converting on a perfectly played two-man game with midfielder Tyler Flynn. Loyola's defense proved resilient throughout the half, holding NJIT to seven shot attempts, with none on target, and holding the Highlanders scoreless. Goalkeeper Connor O'Keefe anchored the Greyhounds backline, posting a shutout in his first career start.
Loyola's depth was on full display in the second half as multiple substitutions kept the Greyhounds momentum. Freshman forward Nicholas Turturro sealed the win in the 82nd minute, finishing a well-executed combination play assisted by Chris Ogor and David Williams.
The Greyhounds' balanced attack featured 13 shots, six on target, compared to NJIT's nine attempts with only two on frame, while holding them to just two shots in the second half.
Teams were tied in corner kicks 6-6 on the night, as neither team had success on their corner kick attempts.
O'Keefe had two saves on the night while securing the shutout for Loyola
Loyola returns to Ridley on Sunday afternoon, as they will host ACC foe Syracuse at noon.
