Men's Soccer Falls to Delaware

NEWARK, Del. — Loyola University Maryland created its share of chances but couldn't find the finishing touch in a 4-0 setback at Delaware on Tuesday night.

The Greyhounds (1-3-0) matched the Blue Hens in overall shots (10-11) and produced four attempts on target, but Delaware (3-0-0) capitalized on its opportunities, scoring twice in each half.

Jack Endacott and Jahvar Stephenson each tested Delaware goalkeeper JoJo Elliott with dangerous strikes, while Tyler Flynn and David Williams also forced saves as Loyola pressed late in both halves.

Oscar Halls anchored the back line for 90 minutes, while goalkeeper Connor O'Keefe made key stops to keep the Greyhounds within striking distance through much of the match.

The Greyhounds also showed grit in the midfield, where Richie Nichols and Luca Chen helped drive possession forward, particularly in the second half when Loyola generated five shots and a pair of corner kicks.

Delaware's Marius Stenner led Delaware with two goals, while Richard Monath and Charles Giordano also found the back of the net.

Loyola will look to rebound, as they travel to Iona on September 6 to close out their three-game roadtrip.
