Easton, PA -- Loyola University Maryland's men's soccer team fell to Lafayette College, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Mike Bourger '44 Field at Oaks Stadium in Easton, Pennsylvania.
The Greyhounds (2-9-2, 1-3-1 Patriot League) battled throughout the contest and generated increased offensive pressure in the second half but could not find the equalizer. Lafayette improved to 3-6-3 overall and 2-1-2 in conference play.
Lafayette's Samir Dishnica scored the game's lone goal in the 45th minute, converting a pass from Nicolas Juliano at the 44:10 mark to give the Leopards a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Loyola goalkeeper Felix Huebner kept the Greyhounds within striking distance, making five saves in the contest, including several stops to limit Lafayette's scoring opportunities. The Leopards finished with nine shots, six on target, while Loyola recorded eight shots, three of which were on target.
The Greyhounds responded with a more aggressive attack after the break, putting six shots toward goal in the second half. Ben Schouten, Lukas Cortes and Tyler Flynn each tested Lafayette goalkeeper Francisco Benbow, who finished with three saves to preserve the shutout.
Loyola also created opportunities through set pieces, earning seven corner kicks in the second half and matching Lafayette with seven for the game. Despite the sustained pressure, the Greyhounds were unable to capitalize on their chances.
Lafayette finished with a narrow 9-8 advantage in shots, while possession was nearly even, with the Leopards holding 52% to Loyola's 48%.
