The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds continue Patriot League play, as they travel to Bucknell to take on the Bison. 
  • This is the 19th matchup in the series, with Bucknell holding the 9-4-5 edge in the series. 
  • Teams battled to a 0-0 draw last season, but Bucknell won the previous three matchups, including one meeting in the Patriot League Semifinals.

  • The Greyhounds 3-1-1 start to last season was their best five-game start to the season since the 2016 season, where they also started 3-1-1. 
  • Loyola's six game unbeaten streak to start Patriot League play last season was the longest unbeaten streak to start conference play since joining the Patriot League.

Defending Home Turf

  • They host Stony Brook, Fairleigh Dickinson, Iowa State, and James Madison at home, before opening Patriot League play by hosting Boston and American. 
  • Loyola has a 25-15-19 record at Ridley since the beginning of the 2021 season, with the Greyhounds going 0-1-7 at home so far this season. 

Greyhounds Defense
  • The Greyhounds defense ranks as the top defense in the Patriot League so far, boasting a 1.00 goals against average, as they are tied with Lafayette in GAA.
  • The Greyhounds back line has been led by Geneve Pouliot, who has played all but nine minutes this season, along with Francesca Curatolo, Renee Wanzor, Eva McGorian, and Savannah Hartford. 
  • In goal, Hannah Goetzer has been lockdown in goal. Goetzer has allowed just eight goals in nine games, while tallying 49 saves, a .845 save percentage, and a .90 GAA.
  • She leads the Patriot League with a .845 save percentage this season, as well as ranks first in GAA. She also ranks in the top-50 in Division I in save percentage so far this season. 

Scouting Bucknell
  • Bucknell enters the matchup with a 5-5-2 (2-0-1) record on the season, as they are coming off of a 1-0 win over Lafayette on Wednesday. 
  • The Bison also have a win over Lehigh, while tying with Holy Cross in Patriot League play. 
  • Ingrid Murphy leads the team with four goals and 10 points on the season, while Gaby Parker and Clare Nemsick are tied with the team lead with three assists each. 
  • Sarah McFarland has started in every game this season, tallying 43 saves, a .768 save percentage, and a 1.18 GAA, including five shutouts. 
  • Entering the season, the Bison were picked to finish in tied for seventh place in the Patriot League. 
  • Katie Connell was named to the Preseason All-Patriot League team.  
  • Bucknell is coming off of a 2025 season where they went 3-9-6 (1-4-4), and missed the Patriot League Championships.

  • The 2025 season will be the 14th season the Greyhounds have been in the Patriot League, going 38-50-30  in the Patriot League during that span, reaching the Patriot League Championships in six straight seasons, including four trips to the Semifinals. 
  • This is Head Coach Joe Mallia's second stint at the helm with the Greyhounds. During his first stint, Mallia went 87-45-9 (54-4-5, MAAC), Winning the MAAC Regular-Season Championship four times, and the MAAC Tournament Championship three times.
  • In his seven season's back at the helm, Mallia has gone 49-42-35. 
  • The Greyhounds have gone 67-49-28 at home since the opening of Ridley Athletic Complex. 

Recipe for Success 
  • When scoring first last season, the Greyhounds went 4-0-4 on the season. 
  • When scoring at least one goal last season, Loyola was 5-0-5, including 4-0 when scoring multiple goals.
  • The Greyhounds have won 31 of the last 36 games in which they have scored two goals or more, which dates back to Sept. 6, 2018.
  • The Greyhounds are 34-2-9 when scoring first and 24-1-2 when leading at halftime since the beginning of the 2022 season.
  • Loyola has experienced success on the road last season, posting a 3-2-4 record on the season. In those nine games, the Greyhounds have allowed just eight goals. 

Between The Pipes
  • Goetzer has had a great year in goal through nine games, posting a .845 save percentage, a .90 GAA, and 49 saves on the season.
  • She has recorded at least five saves in six games this season, including six saves in three of the last four games.
  • Goetzer's .843 save percentage ranks 40th in Division I this season.
  • She also has three shutouts this season, as Loyola shutout three-straight opponents in George Mason, Stony Brook, and FDU. 

Key Returners
  • Brigid Mulholland and Hannah Goetzer both return in goal for the Greyhounds this season, after the pair combined to play every minute in goal last season. 
  • On the back line, Renee Wanzor returns after finishing second on the team in minutes played last season. 
  • In the midfield, Brigid McElderry, Ella Moss, and Reagan Mallia return to the Greyhounds. The trio all appeared in at least 16 games last season, led by McElderry who started in 15 of 18 games she appeared in. 
  • Leading the attack, Savannah Manset, Taryn Buckley, and Francesca Khachatourians return. Manset led the team with seven points, 50 shots, and 21 shots on goal last season as a freshman. Buckley tallied two goals and a assist during her freshman campaign, while Khachatourians had a team-best three assists to go along with a goal last season.
