American Escapes Volleyball For Win

WASHINGTON, D.C. – American University remained undefeated in Patriot league volleyball on Saturday despite a strong challenge by Loyola University Maryland. The Eagles held on for a 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21 victory on their home floor.

Morgan Crawford led the Greyhounds in kills for the third match in a row, finishing with 14 and a .313 hitting percentage.

Crawford had 55 kills in three matches this week with 17 coming at Coppin State on Tuesday and 24 yesterday versus Navy. She averaged 4.23 per set in the trio of matches.

Loyola led 10-7 in the fourth set before American scored the next three points to tie.

A Crawford kill then put the Greyhounds in front, 13-11 before five in a row from American gave the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish.

Ava Nepkin added nine kills, and Addie Lowe had eight. Addie Huber led the team with 14 digs, while Crawford had 13 for her sixth double-double of the season. Gabi Verdicchio led Loyola with 21 assists.
