Syracuse, NY -- The Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team trailed by just two goals entering halftime, but Syracuse University scored seven unanswered goals in the third quarter to lift them to the 15-7 win.
Elisa Faklaris had a game-high four goals, while
Lauren Perfetto recorded a career-best three assists.
Morgan Quade,
Anna Kaplan, and
Morgan Ruhnke eached scored a goal in the game.
The Orange (1-3 overall, 0-2 ACC) opened the scoring in the first quarter, as they scored the first two goals of the game to take the early lead.
Loyola responded halfway through the first quarter, as Perfetto found Ruhnke for the Greyhounds (2-3 overall, 1-0 Patriot League) opening goal.
After another Syracuse goal, Faklaris scored her first of the game with three seconds left in the first as Loyola trailed by one.
After a player-up goal for the Orange,
Anna Kaplan scored on a low, back-hand goal to keep the Greyhounds within a goal. Syracuse, however, would answer 53 seconds later with a goal of their own.
Faklaris would score her second of the half, before Syracuse scored another as Loyola trailed 6-4 at the break.
The Orange came out the gates in the second half fast, as they scored within the first minute of action, but they did not stop there, as they outscored Loyola 7-0 in the quarter, while holding the Greyhounds to 0 shots in the quarter.
Loyola would outscore Syracuse 3-2 in the fourth quarter, thanks to a pair of Faklaris goals and a
Morgan Quade free-position goal, as Syracuse would win 15-7.
The Greyhounds held the edge in the draw cirlce, holding a 13-11 edge, as
Mae Murphy recorded 8 draws in the game. Loyola also remained perfect in clears in the game, going 15-15.
Loyola will remain on the road on Saturday, as they will travel to face Penn.
