Murphy and Ruhnke Earn Weekly Patriot League Honors

Bethlehem, PA -- The Patriot League announced their weekly women's lacrosse awards on Monday afternoon, as Loyola University Maryland's Mae Murphy and Morgan Ruhnke earned nods. 

Murphy was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Ruhnke was named Rookie of the Week. This is Murphy's first defensive player of the week and fourth overall award (three-time Rookie of the Week), while this is Ruhnke's first weekly award. 

Murphy had a monster week for Loyola, as she tallied 32 draws over the two games for the Greyhounds. She opened with 15 draws in the win over American, before tying a career-best with 17 draws in the win over No. 4 Navy. With her 17 draws, she broke the Patriot League Single-Season Freshman Draw record, as she now sits at 149 draws for the season. Over the two games, she helped Loyola win 41 of 58 (70.6%) of draws over the two games. She also played a key role on the Greyhounds defense, holding Navy to a season-low in shot attempts. 

Ruhnke had her best week as a Greyhound, as she totaled seven shots over Loyola's two wins. She opened the week with a career-best four goals in the win over American, before scoring three goals in the win over No. 4 Navy. Ruhnke scored her seven goals on just eight shots over the two games. She led Loyola in goals over the week, as she now ranks tied for third on the team in goals (19) on the season. 

Loyola will head to Lafayette on Wednesday, before hosting #13 Boston College on Saturday afternoon.
