Loyola University Maryland women's tennis fell to Towson University, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the McClure Tennis Center.
The Tigers secured the doubles point by winning two of the three matches. At No. 1 doubles, Towson's Kiersten Tambe and Chandré Boshoff defeated
Christine Richiez and
Emma Roeck, 6-3.
Loyola answered at No. 2, where
Emi Shivkumar and Elena Hartney earned a 6-3 victory over Aubrey Carper and Chloe Courtnage. Towson clinched the point at No. 3 as Ashira Murray and Sania Suchinsky edged
Victoria Epps and
Mia Matriccino, 7-5.
Loyola claimed three singles victories, but Towson won the other two matches to take the team decision. Richiez earned a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles, defeating Tambe, 6-3, 7-6 (1). At No. 3, Matriccino posted a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Boshoff, and Roeck added a 6-2, 6-2 win against Carper at No. 5.
Towson countered with wins at Nos. 2, 4 and 6 singles. Gaia Montecchi defeated Hartney at No. 2, 6-4, 7-6 (10), while Murray earned a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over Epps at No. 4. Suchinsky closed out the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Shivkumar at No. 6 singles.
