Baltimore -- The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 2026 women's nominees for the Tewaaraton Award on Thursday evening, as Loyola University Maryland's
Mae Murphy was named as a Top-25 finalist.
Murhpy is the only freshman named to the list, while also being the only draw specialist named to the top-25. She is one of five nominees from the Patriot League this season, joined by Army's Brigid Duffy and Allison Reilly, and Navy's Alyssa Chung and Ava Yovino.Â
Murphy has dominated from the circle this season, as she ranks second in the country in draws per game (12.6) and total draws (189), while also leading the Greyhounds as the top-ranked draw unit, tallying a 68.8 draw percentage and 17.8 draws per game this season. She has recorded double-digit draws in all but three games this season, while also recording seven games with 15 or more draws, including a season-best 19 draws in the win against Colgate.Â
She has also put up impressive numbers against some of the top teams in the country, as she is averaging 10.7 draws per game against ranked opponents, which includes 17 against then #4 Navy and 16 against #10 Florida.Â
On top of her strong start to her Loyola career, Murphy has set the Division I, Patriot League, and Loyola record for draw controls by a freshman. She enters the final two games of the regular season 21 draws shy of tying the Loyola single-season record of 210, which was set by
Chase Boyle last season.Â
The five finalists will be named during early May, with the winner being annoucned at the Tewaaraton Ceremony in Washington, D.C on May 28.Â
