Lehigh defeated the Loyola University Maryland men's and women's tennis teams Friday at the McClure Tennis Center, earning a 4‑0 victory in the men's match and edging the Greyhounds 4‑3 on the women's side.
In the women's match, Loyola earned the doubles point by winning two of three matches.
Christine Richiez and
Emma Roeck defeated Lena Dogadalski and Hannah Letzer at No. 1 doubles, while
Mia Matriccino and
Victoria Epps posted a 6‑1 victory at No. 3 doubles over Skye Yonehara and Audrey Harrington. The No. 2 doubles match between Maggie Forkner and Alina Shyani of Lehigh and
Emi Shivkumar and
Elena Hartley of Loyola was unfinished with Lehigh leading 5‑4.
Lehigh clinched the match with four singles victories. Forkner rallied past Richiez at No. 1 singles, 2‑6, 6‑2, 6‑1, while Dogadalski defeated Hartley, 6‑2, 6‑2, at No. 2. Giselle Vlassis earned a 6‑4, 6‑4 win over Matriccino at No. 3 singles, and Alice Ann Pantsari defeated Shivkumar, 6‑1, 6‑2, at No. 6. Loyola earned two singles points, as Epps defeated Shyani, 6‑3, 3‑6, 6‑3, at No. 4 and Roeck posted a 6‑2, 6‑2 win over Yonehara at No. 5.
On the men's side, Lehigh secured the doubles point by winning the two completed matches. Alex Van Lumich and Aleksandar Daskalovic defeated Petter Hagen and Louis Moldenhauer, 6‑1, at No. 2 doubles, while Kosei Ogata and Rafael Gracie earned a 6‑0 win over Blake Edwards and Cristian Pemueller at No. 3. The No. 1 doubles match between Henry Stoller and Wyeth Anzilotti of Lehigh and Ryan Gill and Nick Lawliss of Loyola was unfinished with Lehigh leading 4‑2.
