GOLD RIVER, Calif. – Loyola University Maryland men's rowing opened competition in the IRA Championships on Friday in Northern California, capping the day with a semifinal win in the Varsity 4+.
 
The Greyhounds Varsity 4+ crew of Pete Bohacek, Gabe Wagner, Brendan Shaw, Chris Engelbert and coxswain Josie Sedgley took 19th in the morning time trials, rowing to a time of 6:28.716.
 
Loyola came back in the afternoon to row 6:39.360 for a victory in Semifinal DE, beating crews from Mercyhurst, Tufts, Columbia and Drexel.
 
The Greyhounds will race in Final No. 4 of the event on Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. (PDT).
