BALTIMORE – Imani Atkinson has joined the Loyola University Maryland women's basketball program as an assistant coach and director of operations, completing Head Coach
Danielle O'Banion's staff for the 2026-27 season.
Atkinson comes to Loyola's staff after spending the last two seasons in Emmitsburg, Maryland, with the women's basketball program at Mount St. Mary's. She was the team's director of operations in 2024-25 and then was an assistant coach in 2025-26.
During her time on the Mountaineers' sideline, she helped the team to a 23-17 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) while also leading the league in 3-point field goal percentage and finishing third in steals and fourth in total points scored.
Atkinson came into the coaching ranks in the Mid-Atlantic area in 2023-24 when she was an assistant coach at Harford Community College while also serving as a head coach with Elevate Elite 3SSB in Richmond, Virginia, with the 15U Adidas Select Elite Team.
She started her collegiate playing career at North Carolina Central University where she played in 26 games as a first-year player. Atkinson then competed for two seasons at Limestone University, seeing action in 58 games for Saints teams which went 57-6 during her time at the school.
Atkinson returned to North Carolina Central to complete her studies and graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication.
