Morgan Crawford tied her career-high with 17 kills, and
Ava Nepkin added 14, but Coppin State University outlasted Loyola University Maryland volleyball for a five-set non-conference win on Tuesday, 23-25, 25-22, 25-12, 21-25, 15-11.
Loyola took a 1-0 lead in the match before the Eagles (11-5 overall) won the next two sets. The Greyhounds (4-9) stayed alive and pushed the match to a fifth with a 25-22 win in the fourth.
The Greyhounds scored the fifth set's first three points, but Coppin State came back with the next four before a Crawford kill made it 4-4.
The Eagles, however, scored the next two points and built a lead they would not relinquish.
Coppin State led 9-5, but Loyola rallied for the next three points off an Eagles service error, an
Elsie Afful block and a Crawford kill, forcing a Coppin State timeout at 9-8.
The Eagles scored the next four out of the stoppage to stretch their lead and eventually finish the match.
Sydnee Peters matched her career-high for the second match in a row with nine kills on just 20 swings.
Addie Huber picked up a season-best 26 digs, and
Madison Monahan had a double-double with 28 assists and 15 digs.
