The Matchup
  • The Greyhounds continue their homestand on Thursday evening, as they welcome Big12 foe Iowa State. 
  • This will be the first matchup between the two programs, and will be Loyola's first matchup against a Big12 foe since they faced Missouri during the 2010 season. 
  • Loyola has not allowed a goal in 290 minutes of game time, dating back to their game against Princeton.

  • The Greyhounds 3-1-1 start to last season was their best five-game start to the season since the 2016 season, where they also started 3-1-1. 
  • Loyola's six game unbeaten streak to start Patriot League play last season was the longest unbeaten streak to start conference play since joining the Patriot League.

Defending Home Turf

  • Loyola has a 25-14-14 record at Ridley over the past five seasons, including going 2-3-4 at home last season. 

Greyhounds Defense
  • The Greyhounds defense ranks as the top defense in the Patriot League so far, boasting a .83 goals against average, as they are the only team in the conference to allow less than 1.0 goals a game.. 
  • The Greyhounds back line has been led by Geneve Pouliot, who has played all but nine minutes this season, along with Francesca Curatolo, Renee Wanzor, Eva McGorian, and Savannah Hartford. 
  • In goal, Hannah Goetzer has been lockdown in goal. Goetzer has allowed just five goals in six games, while tallying 27 saves, a .844 save percentage, and a .83 GAA.
  • She leads the Patriot League with a .844 save percentage this season, as well as ranks first in GAA. She also ranks in the top-50 in Division I in save percentage so far this season. 

Scouting Iowa State
  • Iowa State comes into the matchup with a 4-2-1 record on the season, as they are coming off of a 2-0 win over Missouri State on Thursday. 
  • The Cyclones lone losses came to Drake and Iowa this season. 
  • Alaina vVilla and Megan Walters are tied for the team lead with two goals each this season. 
  • Morgan Goodman leads the team with six points (1g, 4a) and four assists. 
  • In goal, Eme McClenahan has started all seven games this season, recording 19 saves, a .826 save percentage, and a .67 GAA. 
  • Entering the season, Iowa State was picked to finish in last in the Big12, earning just 29 points in the poll. 
  • They are coming off of a 4-9-4 season last year, where they finished 1-8-2 in Big12 play.

Quick Notes
  • The 2025 season will be the 14th season the Greyhounds have been in the Patriot League, going 37-49-29  in the Patriot League during that span, reaching the Patriot League Championships in six straight seasons, including four trips to the Semifinals. 
  • This is Head Coach Joe Mallia's second stint at the helm with the Greyhounds. During his first stint, Mallia went 87-45-9 (54-4-5, MAAC), Winning the MAAC Regular-Season Championship four times, and the MAAC Tournament Championship three times.
  • In his seven season's back at the helm, Mallia has gone 44-39-31. 
  • The Greyhounds have gone 67-48-26 at home since the opening of Ridley Athletic Complex. 

Recipe for Success 
  • When scoring first last season, the Greyhounds went 4-0-4 on the season. 
  • When scoring at least one goal last season, Loyola is 5-0-5, including 4-0 when scoring multiple goals.
  • The Greyhounds have won 30 of the last 34 games in which they have scored two goals or more, which dates back to Sept. 6, 2018. Loyola was 4-0 when scoring multiple goals last season.
  • The Greyhounds are 33-2-9 when scoring first and 23-1-2 when leading at halftime since the beginning of the 2022 season.
  • Loyola has experienced success on the road last season, posting a 3-2-4 record on the season. In those nine games, the Greyhounds have allowed just eight goals. 

Between The Pipes
  • After splitting games during non-conference season with Mulholland, Hannah Goetzer started each Patriot League game, and has been one of the top goalkeepers in the country this season. 
  • Through 14 games started, Goetzer had a .808 save percentage, 59 saves, and a 1.00 Goals Against Average (GAA) this season. 
  • Prior to Colgate, her save percentage ranked third in all of Division I, while her 0.50 GAA ranked 6th. 
  • Goetzer was fourth the Patriot League in save percentage and third in GAA last season.

Key Returners
  • Brigid Mulholland and Hannah Goetzer both return in goal for the Greyhounds this season, after the pair combined to play every minute in goal last season. 
  • On the back line, Renee Wanzor returns after finishing second on the team in minutes played last season. 
  • In the midfield, Brigid McElderry, Ella Moss, and Reagan Mallia return to the Greyhounds. The trio all appeared in at least 16 games last season, led by McElderry who started in 15 of 18 games she appeared in. 
  • Leading the attack, Savannah Manset, Taryn Buckley, and Francesca Khachatourians return. Manset led the team with seven points, 50 shots, and 21 shots on goal last season as a freshman. Buckley tallied two goals and a assist during her freshman campaign, while Khachatourians had a team-best three assists to go along with a goal last season.
