2018 (Junior): Named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and earned All-Patriot League First Team honors… Started all 17 games and played more than 983 minutes in goal for the Grey-hounds… Made 160 saves… Had an 8.54 goals-against average and a .533 saves percentage… Led the Patriot League in saves percentage and was second in goals-against average… Allowed just 21 goals over a four-game stretch (Johns Hopkins, Lafayette, Towson, Holy Cross)… Had 12 saves with just five goals allowed against Johns Hopkins (2/17), earning Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week recognition… Yielded just three goals in three quarters against Lafayette (2/24)… Made 13 saves against Duke (3/10)… Had 12 saves in a win at Navy (3/17)… Made 10 saves against just seven goals allowed at Colgate (3/31)… Posted 12 saves against Army West Point (4/20) in the regu-lar-season finale… Named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team, combining for 21 saves and 16 goals allowed in two games.. 2017 (Sophomore): Earned All-America Honorable Mention from Inside Lacrosse… Led the Patriot League and finished fourth in NCAA Division I in goals-against average (7.74) while starting all 16 games and playing more than 790 minutes between the pipes… Was second in the conference and 13th nationally in saves percentage (.547)… Allowed just 20 goals over Loyola’s last four contests of the year for a 5.00 goals against average… Averaged 10 saves in that stretch… Named Most Valuable Player of the Patriot League Championships after making 12 saves against both Holy Cross (4/28) and Army West Point (4/30) and allowing just three and four goals to the Greyhounds’ opponents, respectively… Also earned BSN Sports/USILA National Defensive Player of the Week honors following the tournament… Posted 14 saves at Johns Hopkins (2/18)… Tied his career-high with 16 saves, yielding only seven goals in the process, at Towson (3/1)… Had 10 saves and five goals allowed against Colgate (4/1)… Posted 12 saves in three-straight games, starting at Army West Point (4/21) to end the regular-season and continuing through the Patriot League Championship Game… Earned Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week recognition after giving up six goals against 12 saves to the Black Knights in the regular-season finale.
2016 (Freshman): Became Loyola’s starting goalkeeper in late March and helped the Greyhounds to 10-straight wins in his first 10 starts… Finished the season ranked sixth in NCAA Division I in goals-against average (7.80) and eighth in saves percentage (.569)… Made 112 saves and allowed 85 goals over the course of playing 654-plus minutes between the pipes… Named to the Patriot League Championships All-Tournament Team… Came on to start the second quarter at Navy (3/19) and yielded five goals over the last 45 minutes of the game… Made his starting debut at Georgetown (3/23) and saved nine shots against seven goals allowed… Then posted 12 saves and gave up only one goal in 49-plus minutes of action against Bucknell (3/26)… Earned Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week honors following those two games… Turned away 10 shots on goal and allowed four goals at Colgate (4/3)… Had 14 saves at Lehigh (4/9)… Doubled up his goals allowed total with 12 saves and six goals allowed in the regular-season finale against Army West Point (4/22) and earned League Goalkeeper of the Week honors again… In two Patriot League Championships Games, posted 21 saves against 12 goals allowed… Opened the tournament with a 11-save six-goals allowed performance in a double-overtime win over Bucknell (4/29) and then made 10 saves, allowing the same number of goals against Army West Point (5/1)… Stopped a season-high 16 shots in the NCAA First Round versus Duke (5/14).
Before Loyola: Earned three letters in lacrosse at McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland... Named to the MIAA 'A' Conference All-Star First Team in 2015 and the All-Metro First Team... Helped McDonogh reach the MIAA final with a 14-5 record as a senior... Was an Athlete of the Week by The Baltimore Sun... Guided McDonogh to a 15-4 record in 2014... Made 380 saves as a high school player, 197 as a junior in 2014 and 183 the following year... Played to a sub-7.0 goals against average... Played club lacrosse for the Crabs and Baltimore Lacrosse Club... Named to the King of the Hill All-Star Team in 2013... Helped his club teams win the 2013 King of the Hill and Crab City Challenge, as well as the 2015 Vail Tournament.
Personal: Jacob Matthew Stover... Born in Round Rock, Texas... Son of Debbie and Matt Stover... Has an older sister, Jenna, who is a lacrosse player at Messiah College, and a younger brother, Joe... Was a member of McDonogh's honor roll each of his eight terms at the school... Was a McDonogh School Senior Student Leader for the FCA Club in 2015... Father, Matt, was an All-Pro kicker and Super Bowl Champion for the Baltimore Ravens... The elder Stover played 19 years in the National Football League for the Cleveland Browns, Ravens and Indianapolis Colts... At the time of the younger Stover's freshman year at Loyola, Matt Stover was ranked sixth all-time in the NFL with 2,004 points scored.
