2020 (Senior): Named a USILA Scholar All-American... Limited by injury, but started the one game in which he played... Finished the Johns Hopkins game with four ground balls... Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
2019 (Junior): Academic All-Patriot League… After missing his first two years due to injury, played in all 17 games and started the last 11… Finished the year with 21 ground balls and nine caused turnovers… Made his collegiate debut against Virginia in the season-opening win… Had a caused turnover at Towson… Made his first start against Navy and had three ground balls to go with three caused turnovers as the Greyhounds held the Midshipmen to only five goals… Had three ground balls in a 21-7 win over Colgate… Posted three ground balls at Lafayette… Had four ground balls and a caused turnover in the NCAA First Round win against Syracuse… Named to the Patriot League Acadmeic Honor Roll.
2018 (Sophomore): Did not play after an injury during the fall… Earned Patriot League Academic Honor Roll recognition.
2017 (Freshman): Did not play due to injury and received a medical hardship waiver… Named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Before Loyola: Earned letters in lacrosse, basketball and soccer at Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, Maryland… Earned All-Met First Team honors from The Washington Post in 2016 in addition to being named the team’s Most Valuable Player and to the All-League First Team… Was a 2015 and 2016 Preseason All-American by USA Today… Two-time All-State First Team and All-League First Team honoree in 2015 and 2016… Also was an All-Met Second Team player in 2015… Helped the Hoyas win the 2014 Interstate Athletic Conference title and finish with a No. 4 ranking nationally.
Personal: John Railey… Son of Katherine and Jack Railey... Has two older siblings, Caroline and Will, and a younger sister, Margaret... Father, Jack, played basketball at James Madison University, and his older brother, Will, is on the lacrosse team at the University of Virginia.
