Emma Gerhold joined the Loyola University Maryland track and field staff as an assistant coach in December 2021.
Gerhold has spent the last three-plus years as an assistant coach at Frostburg State University in Western Maryland where she also has been the assistant athletic director for student development and success since July 2019.
With the Bobcats, Gerhold has coached sprints, hurdles and multis, while also working with jumpers and pole vaulters.
Her work did not stop off the track for Frostburg State as she planned and implemented camps and clinics, recruited and led personal development and mental skills the program.
She has completed several coaching certifications including the ALTIS Short Sprints and Relays and USTFCCCA Jumps Specialist, Sprints, Hurdles and Relays and Sport Psychology for the Track and Field Coach programs.
As an athletic administrator at Frostburg State, Gerhold developed and presented programming centered around academics, mental performance and personal development. She collaborated with the Faculty Athletics Representative for “Life in Balance” programming, and she served as an advisor to the Bobcats’ Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Gerhold graduated magna cum laude from Grand Valley State University, earning her bachelor’s degree in sports management in December 2018. As a student-athlete for the Lakers, Gerhold was a two-year letterwinner and scored in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships as a pole vaulter.
Prior to competing for Grand Valley State, she was a student-athlete at UMBC and scorer in the vault at the America East Conference Championships.
Before moving to Frostburg State, Gerhold served as an assistant coach for the West Ottawa (Michigan) High School track & field teams during the spring and summer of 2018.
